Kelly Curia-Schmidt’s Advancement Tips for Career Women

Unlike before, the words career and women can now be so powerful even with only two words. As a woman in the workforce, I, Kelly Curia-Schmidt, am now confident to say that women are becoming incrementally more successful in the workforce. Despite the ever-present glass ceiling which hinders some women’s career advancement, there are strategies women should consider when they are looking to further their careers.

Although many companies commit to gender diversification, that commitment has not yet been translated into meaningful progress across the board. Companies need t take more actions, starting with treating gender diversity like the priority that it is. This also means that women in the workforce who are looking to further their careers need to take bolder steps. I, Kelly Curia-Schmidt, have listed below some tips you should follow to get you started with your career advancement.

Develop Your Own Brand and Be Visible This is probably one of the most important tips for women who are looking forward to their career advancement. A strong reputation and personal brand put you in the radar for major business opportunities. This will also help your chances of quickly getting into another job in the event you are ever laid off.

Build Your Network Building your network both inside and outside your organization will give you more options in case your situation changes. Know the right people and impress them with your work performance. You would want them to remember you whenever big projects are being discussed.

Ask for Feedback Asking for feedback is another one of the most important tips I have for you. You can only improve yourself if you know what to improve on. Asking for feedback will help you avoid miscommunications which may jeopardize your prospects for growth.

Be Persistent If you really want career advancement, giving up would not even cross your mind. Things do not happen as fast as we want them to be, but once you have set your goal, be single-minded about it and persevere so you could achieve it and be proud of it in the future.
